Close Wizards game results in first loss for Dartford Sharks I

The away fixture at Wizards is always the toughest fixture of the season. With their sheer size and strength inside as well as their able shooting from the perimeter they are a tough side to beat on their home turf.

But with our new signings inside we arrived feeling confident that we could match them this year.

The game started slowly for Dartford with Wizards going up 10-0 but soon Dartford came back with some great inside work from Zolt - the strong Hungarian import.

By the end of the quarter we were 4 down and by the end if the half wizards had increased the lead to 7.

We needed something if we were going to turn this around. That something came in the form of lightning quick James Pullen. Scoring most of his 18 points in the third quarter James was unstoppable as he shot three after three to leave the sharks now on top by 8 at the end of the third.

The last quarter was very scrappy with both teams getting frustrated by referees decisions. With a few minutes to go Dartford were up but 5 and we were looking good for the win but wizards kept up the pressure and Dartford made some mistakes that cost dearly - A loss by 1 point.

As you can imagine a very somber changing room.

Final score : 70 - 69

Sharks Scorers : Pullen 18, Kraft 15, Ball 8, Podjaski 7, Maher 6, Demmon 6, Miller 5, Doncuks 4
